The United Nations Security Council is scheduled to meet behind closed doors to discuss North Korea's latest ballistic missile test.
The world body said the emergency meeting, which will be held on Tuesday, had been requested by the US, Japan and South Korea. North Korea fired an intermediate-range ballistic missile into waters off its east coast on Sunday. Pyongyang described the launch as successful saying the country’s Leader Kim Jong-un had approved the deployment of the weapon for military action. This is considered an indication that North Korea has made further advances in its ability to hit U-S targets. The Asian nation says it is developing its missile and nuclear programs as a response to hostile US policies.
