Elon Musk is a businessman, investor, engineer, and inventor most known as the CEO of SpaceX and Tesla. Before Musk became the successful entrepreneur he is today, he was practicing his skills because at just 12 years old, Musk sold a simple game called "Blastar" to a computer magazine for $500. After graduating high school, Musk moved to Canada to attend Queen’s University in Ontario, but he finished his studies at the University of Pennsylvania with degrees in both physics and economics. During his time at UPenn, Musk turned a 10-bedroom fraternity house into a nightclub, one of his first entrepreneurial experiments. He continued these experiments outside of college when he launched Zip2, a website which provided city travel guides to newspapers like the New York Times and Chicago Tribune. Musk eventually sold the company and started PayPal, but the board ultimately decided to fire him, which actually ended in his favor when the company sold, because he was the biggest shareholder. This eventually led Musk to create Space Exploration Technologies, more commonly known as SpaceX, which is trying to make spaceflight cheaper. Musk has also remained busy on Earth with Tesla Motors, because he became the first investor in the company, but he took an active role by helping to develop the first Tesla car. Now, Musk is the CEO of Tesla as he continues to find new ways to be more energy efficient.
Most recently, Tesla introduced the new Tesla battery for homes and businesses, which can potentially help the marijuana industry by saving cannabis farmers thousands of dollars on electricity. The batteries can protect plants in case of a power outage, which could easily cause a financial loss because without power the whole marijuana growing cycle is affected. With this new battery, Musk is potentially helping many marijuana farms, so some are certainly questioning whether Musk is really helping himself, but it doesn’t appear that he is a consumer.
